On August 7, 2023, the Queens District Attorney’s office announced that they had arraigned gastroenterologist, Dr. Zhi Alan Cheng with an additional 50-counts on behalf of six victims. Dr. Cheng is accused of being a predator who was arrested in December 2022 for drugging and raping an unconscious woman in his home. This victim found videos of herself and other victims being assaulted by Dr. Cheng and reported him.

Not only is Dr. Cheng accused of assaulting numerous women, but also of videotaping his crimes. Three women were raped by Dr. Cheng in his home after he met them on a dating site or was already acquainted with them. The other three known victims were patients at New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he used his position to sexually abuse vulnerable women in his care. The victims’ range in age from 19 to 37-year-olds. One victim describes feeling hot, losing consciousness, and waking up in “immense pain”.

There are other unidentified victims, including another patient, who are still unknown at this time. Investigators discovered fentanyl, LSD, ketamine, and sedatives such as propofol and sevoflurane in Dr. Cheng’s home.

"I'm scared to go to the doctors now," she said. "I don't want to go. I hope God doesn't make me sick again."

Along with Dr. Cheng’s crimes, there are allegations that New York Presbyterian failed to address complaints made against Dr. Cheng.
