Detective Alvarez Dedicated His Life To Advocating For 9/11 Victims’ Rights

The Jacob Fuchsberg Law Firm is deeply saddened by the passing of  Luis Alvarez, a former New York City detective who pleaded with Congress this month to extend health and compensation benefits to police officers, firefighters, and other emergency workers who responded to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Detective Alvarez dedicated his life to protecting others and advocating for 9/11 victims’ rights. The Jacob Fuchsberg Law Firm extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Our office represents hundreds of claimants who, like Detective Alvarez, developed life-threatening cancers as a result of their exposure to 9/11 toxins. These cancers are progressing and deadly.

One of our claimants, who was also a detective and worked primarily in the pit with the bucket brigade, assisting with digging and removing debris, recently passed away after a long fight with gastrointestinal cancer.

"It is time for Congress to honor Detective Alvarez’s sacrifice and the many other individuals who suffer from injuries as a result of 9/11 and reauthorize the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund to benefit all those who responded to the 9/11 attacks."
